Super Bowl 2013: Beyonce, Power Outage and Melted Cake

Hey everyone! So, this was Super Bowl weekend! Now, I'm not a big football fan. Well, I'm actually not a fan of watching sports on TV at all, I still don't understand why they call it football and I won't talk about how I still have no clue how the game works after 3 years in the USA. Having that said, I love Super Bowl! There's so much to it than just a game. Here's a recap of the best moments.

First of all, my Super Bowl crew. It's become another tradition of us to watch the game together (actually I don't think I would watch it by myself.) This time we gathered at my place and it was a lot of fun. Did any of us care about the result? No. But we decided we would support "the purple ones" as the two Europeans (Lisa and I) call them, or the Baltimore Ravens as the other three Americans call them... and boom, we chose the winning team!

The second best thing was Beyonce's performance. 10 seconds after she started I thought: "I'm sorry Madonna." Seriously, she looked like she wasn't human. I think she looked like she was descending from a higher planet to please us with her presence. Yeah, I'm not exaggerating at all. Watch the video and judge it yourself. She was flawless. Also I think it was even more interesting to watch after last week's lip syncing controversy!

No wonder why the power went out for half of the stadium's lighting system, which interrupted the game for about a half hour. That was another interesting point of the night! Interesting fact: there was a twitter created at that precise moment called @Superbowllights that got about 25 thousand followers in less than an hour... but apparently got deleted by the NFL and the account is now gone.

Finally, food! Yes, this is that one night when you know you will end up eating junk food until you feel so full you can't be bothered grabbing one more bite. We had all kinds of snacks. One of my friends brought an ice cream cake. We ate half of it and continued with the salty snacks (I know... really gross, but according to my American friends, that's ok to do here!) By the time we remembered about the other half of the cake, my kitchen counter looked like this:

Fun way to finish the weekend, and now ready for one more week! Thanks for reading and see you soon!
